Making your own homemade chocolate is really easy to do, but the best part is that you get to decide exactly what goes into it, which means getting creative, but also enjoying less processed, better quality ingredients!
The best part about this homemade chocolate recipe is that it isn’t just any chocolate – it’s made with raw cacao, cacao butter, and local honey. This means it’s rich in magnesium, antioxidants, healthy skin-loving fats, and no refined sugars. Hooray!
This same recipe is also what I’ve used to make homemade mason jar chocolates as a crafty Christmas gift as seen in this how-to video here.
Homemade Chocolate Recipe
Healthy homemade chocolate made with cacao butter, cacao powder, and honey.
- 1 cup cacao butter
- 1/4 cup raw cacao powder
- 1-2 tbsp honey, maple syrup, or your choice sweetener
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch sea salt
- 3-5 drops orange extract
- 3-5 drops peppermint extract
- 1/4 cup crushed nuts
- 1/4 cup raisins or other dried fruit
Shred cacao butter with cheese grater.
Using a double boiler method, add boiling water to large bowl. Place smaller bowl onto, into the water.
Add cacao butter into the small bowl and stir until completely melted with no chunks. Stir in cacao powder and combine remaining ingredients.
Pour chocolate into moulds of choice, or onto flat lined pan (to make a bark) and refrigerate for 1-2 hours until set.
Transfer chocolates into jars or packages of choice.
Keep refrigerated for optimal freshness up to 4 weeks.
