How to Make Golden Milk: Easy Turmeric Tea Recipe

by | Oct 25, 2017 | Beverages

Turmeric has quickly become one of my favourite spices to use in my kitchen, not only because of it’s gorgeous bright orange pigment, but for how powerfully medicinal and nutritious and wonderful it is all-around. Turmeric is used in many recipes, but one of my favourites is Golden Milk.

Golden Milk is truly as wonderful as it sounds. Warm, comforting, creamy, and beautifully pigmented, it makes a great evening drink. Your body will thank you for it!

Easy Turmeric Golden Milk

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (or mug) coconut or nut milk
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger (or 1/2 inch fresh)
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric (or 1/2 inch fresh)
  • 1 tsp raw, unpasteurized honey

Instructions

  1. If using ground spices, add all ingredients to saucepan and whisk until combined.

  2. If using fresh ginger and turmeric roots, add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth. Add to saucepan.

  3. Heat just until warm (no need to scorch it!) and return to mug.

  4. Drink and enjoy!

Health Benefits of Golden Milk
Turmeric’s active compound, curcumin, is responsible for it’s renowned anti-inflammatory properties. And I’m all about keeping inflammation levels far away. Turmeric is also great for our liver, our immune system, and is an excellent source of antioxidants (this means happy cells!)

For an addition boost to your golden milk, try adding a sprinkle of black pepper to help aid the absorption of curcumin.
