The Chocolate Blob

by | Nov 13, 2017 | Dessert

Who knew a few simple whole food ingredients could come together to create a delicious, albeit a little messy-looking, dessert? Enjoy The Chocolate Blob as a snack, too!

I know, I know. This recipe looks a little messy and maybe a little gross. But I assure you, this chocolate goodness may just be the most delicious thing you’ll ever eat. And it only requires 1 bowl and 5 ingredients.

I’ve been making a variation of this recipe for years. I used to make this without cacao and with yogurt instead of nut butter. But over time it somehow turned into a chocolatey, pudding-y, nut-buttery mess of deliciousness. It makes a most satisfying dessert, and a great quick breakfast too!

Sean isn’t the biggest dessert fan but he loves this recipe, one that we together titled…

The Chocolate Blob.

The best part about this recipe, besides how yummy it is, is how wholesome and nutritious the ingredients are. There are no added sugars and the good fats from the nut butter help to keep us feeling full and our blood sugar balanced. It’s the perfect combination of tasty and nutritious. I also have to point out that the sea salt in this recipe is ESSENTIAL. It pulls together all of the flavours so well, and without it, it’s just not the same.

I personally didnt like it as much as you did, but I used almond butter instead and that added more earthy bitterness to the dish than sunflower butter would. I will try it with sun butter next, I did add some maple syrup, an egg and some baking powder and cooked it in a microwave for 2 minutes and it turned out a little bit less bitter and a tiny bit more cake like. I know totally not the point. I wish I had tried it with sun butter first. I did love the rest of the flavors in it, it is a wonderful idea for a simple yet satisfying dessert. Thank you. I’m only eating it a 4 because of the almond butter. Once I try it with sun butter I’m sure it will raise to a 10.

I take the chocolate blob with me in a Tupperware container every time I go hiking. It’s so satiating and delicious as a hiking snack/meal. Been using this recipe since you first mentioned it on your YouTube channel (years ago?).

This tastes really good. I added yoghurt to make it creamier and for that extra protein. Highly recommend adding yoghurt.
